Skiing South Africa

After a week at home my next stop was South Africa for a season of ski instructing. Not the usual country you think of for doing a season but definitely an interesting one.
The trip started by flying to Johannesburg via a ten hour over night stop over in Dubai airport. Once I arrived in JHB I met my new boss for the first time and stopped with his family over night before the long twelve hour drive to Tiffindell ski resort and my new home for the next three months:

I shared a cabin right on the side of the slopes with a few of the other staff:

The ski school team looked like this:

Except twice a week during Ski Burning which started off with us skiing down the slope with flaming torches like this:

continued with the burning of skis:

then our version of the Haka:

and finally skiing down the stairs to the bar for the awards:

We had various themes:

When we weren't ski burning you could find us enjoying the slopes:

Taking part in a TV show:

Doing the polar bear:

 Sun bathing:

Dressing up as mascots:

Hiking to the highest point in the Cape, Ben Mac Dhui:

Going to the local town:

Bum boarding:

In the office:

In the staff bar, La Grotte:

Watching the SA Champs:

Walking to Telefalls:

In the pisten bully:

At games night:

Doing sunrise walks:

On the park:

Eating on the deck after football:

Having an evening ski session:

Extreme bum boarding from Yeti's pub (the highest in SA):

Braaiing:

Doing a sunset walk:

Off-roading:

Doing upside-downers:

Attending weddings:

In Ice Station 2720:

And taking part in a few of our own competitions;
Anything that slides:

and relay racing:

We also had our Tiffindell Oscar's night:

And at the end of the season it was time to say goodbye to Tiffindell:

and head up to the ski deck in Johannesburg:

before flying home to the UK.
